With the completion of the project, the vision that the then Prime Minister of Greece, Charilaos Trikoupis, had more than a hundred years ago to bridge the narrow sea passage between Rio and Antirio has now become a reality.

galaxidi

On the southern coast of Central Greece and after a beautiful route through the mountains of Fokida, Galaxidi emerges. A stately, picturesque, historic symbol of seamanship, it is revealed to us in the cove of a rocky creek overlooking rocky islets and lighthouses. Its two natural harbours, Agora and Chirolakas, – separated by Kavos – were for many years a base for passionate sailors, who ploughed the entire Mediterranean with their famous Galaxidi ships. The Naval – Historical Museum and the Folklore Museum are a tremendous proof of the great maritime history of the place.

The first beach can be found near the Marina of Trisonies. The beach of the island starts after the last taverna and is the one for which you don’t need to take supplies with you, since everything is around you within walking distance.

Pounda beach or Red Beach (because of the colour of its pebbles) is located in the south-eastern part of the island (2 km from the port). You can reach it through a path that starts from the dirt road around the harbour of the island. On the island there are also the necessary signs to make sure you are following the right path. The beach is small and has a cedar tree that creates natural shade.

Unorganized is also the beach Aspra Chalikia, which again gets its name from the color of its pebbles. It is located in the western part of the island and is also accessed by a path that starts from the natural harbour of the island.

The waters at any beach of Trisonies, no matter which beach you choose to swim in, are crystal clear and cool.

Delphi

Delphi, the so-called navel of the Earth in antiquity, was a spiritual meeting point of the Greeks, a religious centre with many sanctuaries and the most important pan-Hellenic oracle of ancient Greece. There, Pythia carried the oracles of Apollo to the visitors – pilgrims who arrived from Greek regions and foreign countries.

Very close to the famous archaeological site, which receives hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, you will find the modern town of Delphi, at the foot of Mount Parnassus, near Arachova.
